This Japanese samurai katana has been hand-forged by Ab Sword using time-honored techniques. The full tang blade is crafted from AISI 1095 high carbon steel, forged in the Maru style and shaped in a traditional Unokubi-Zukuri form. This distinctive geometry features a deep Hi (groove) on both sides, running from the Habaki to the midsection of the blade, with a thinner spine near the tip and reinforced thickness just before the Kissaki (point). This not only reduces weight but also delivers a more balanced swing and satisfying audible feedback.

The blade is clay tempered by hand, applying a thin layer near the edge and a thicker coating along the spine. This differential hardening process results in a visibly distinct real hamon—a natural wavy line that reflects the contrast between the hardened edge and the softer spine. It is further enhanced through traditional Japanese polishing techniques, using multiple grades of whetstone for a mirror-like finish. The O-Kissaki (long tip) is precisely formed, with the hamon continuing beautifully into the Boshi (tip turn-back).

The Tsuba (guard) is made of solid brass, round and finely detailed. A one-piece brass Habaki (blade collar) and two copper Seppa (spacers) keep the blade tightly secured. The Fuchi (collar) and Kashira (pommel) are also made from matching brass, complementing the overall aesthetic.

The Tsuka (handle) is carved from hardwood and covered with genuine black samegawa ray skin, then wrapped in black leather mixed with gold synthetic silk in a tight Hineri-maki style. Two bamboo Mekugi (pegs) hold the full tang blade firmly in place, while a pair of copper Menuki (ornaments) are set beneath the wrap on either side for both grip and decoration.

The Saya (scabbard) is made of hardwood and elegantly wrapped with real bamboo. A thick black Sageo (cord) is tied around the copper Kurigata (knob), and the Koiguchi (scabbard mouth) is reinforced with polished bull horn for extra durability. This katana is built for martial arts use, collection, or display—and can be fully disassembled for maintenance.
