This katana features a full tang blade meticulously crafted from 1060 high carbon steel. The blade has undergone special treatment, and it is laminated in a Maru style, ensuring both strength and durability. It has been hardened through oil quenching, and its black color serves as a rust-resistant coating that maintains its luster over time.
The blade boasts long Hi (grooves) on each side and a CHU-kissaki (medium point) at the top, contributing to its exceptional design. The dragon-themed tsuba (guard) is finely finished alloy, and it starts with a brass one-piece Habaki (blade collar). Two copper Seppas (spacers) securely fasten the tsuba to the sword. The Fuchi (sleeve) and Kashira (buttcap) are crafted from alloy, adding to the sword’s overall aesthetic.
The Tsuka (handle) core is made of hard wood and is adorned with red Ray Skin Same (genuine ray skin) and wrapped in black synthetic fiber tsuka-ito (handle wrap). Two Bamboo Mekugi pegs secure the tang of the sword firmly into the Tsuka. The Saya (scabbard) is constructed from hard wood with a stunning black and red high-gloss finish. The Sageo (cord) is black synthetic silk cord, elegantly wrapped over a bright copper Kurigata.
