Introducing a masterpiece of Full tang Japanese swordcraftsmanship—the Ab Sword Handmade Katana. This katana is a testament to ancient sword-making methods, meticulously crafted to honor tradition.
The blade of this katana is forged by hand from 1095 High Carbon steel in the Maru style, following time-honored techniques. In adherence to Japanese tradition, the blade undergoes a clay covering process, meticulously applied to the entire sword except for the edge. Subsequently, the blade is heated and quenched in spring water, creating a dramatic temperature difference between the Ha (cutting edge) and the rest of the blade. This process gives rise to an authentic hamon, visible all the way to the tip. The blade features a full tang construction and a KAMASU-Kissaki (straight tip). Its surface is painstakingly hand-polished with multiple-grade sharpening stones, resulting in a mirror-like finish. Long Hi (grooves) on each side of the blade contribute to its balance and provide audible feedback during use.
The Tsuba (guard) is expertly crafted with a floral design from brass, complemented by a one-piece brass Habaki and secured by two copper Seppas (spacers). The Fuchi (sleeve) and Kashira (buttcap) are also made of brass. The tsuka-ito (handle wrap) is black synthetic cord with alternating cross over the green real ray skin samegawa (rayskin), featuring two flower design menuki. The tang is double-pinned with bamboo mekugi (pegs).
The katana is accompanied by a hard wooden SAYA (sheath) meticulously wrapped in real ray skin, sanded smooth, and filled with polished lacquer. The saya features buffalo horn koiguchi (scabbard mouth), buffalo horn kurikata (knob), and is adorned with a thick black silk sageo (cord) tied over a buffalo horn kurikata with bright copper shitodome.
