This Japanese samurai sword katana is handcrafted from Damascus steel and finished with a beautiful mirror-like polish after careful oil quenching and heat treatment. Forged using traditional methods, the blade is repeatedly heated, hammered, and refined to remove impurities and create a sword that is both strong and elegant.
The blade is folded 13 times, forming an impressive 8192 layers of steel. This folding process creates a perfect balance between hardness and flexibility, while also producing a stunning natural grain on the surface. The blade features a rare and beautiful Masame Hada (straight grain pattern)—a structure made up of many fine parallel lines, giving the sword a clean, powerful, and disciplined appearance.
Running along both sides of the blade is a long Hi (groove), paired with a traditional Chu-Kissaki (medium tip). This design makes the sword lighter in the hand, improves balance, and produces a clear sound when swung—perfect for both training and performance.
The katana is built with a true full tang construction, secured by two bamboo mekugi, ensuring solid structure and reliable handling. The brass butterfly and flower themed tsuba (guard) is paired with a one-piece brass habaki and two copper seppa, holding the blade firmly in place.
The tsuka (handle) is made from hardwood, wrapped with white genuine ray skin (samegawa) and brown synthetic tsuka-ito in a tight hineri-maki wrap. Two flower-shaped copper menuki decorate each side of the handle, adding both grip and beauty. The fuchi and kashira are also made of brass, giving the handle a refined and durable finish.
The saya (scabbard) is crafted from hardwood with a sleek black high-gloss finish. A thick brown sageo cord is tied over a bright copper kurigata, completing the elegant look. The koiguchi (mouth of the saya) has been hardened for long-term durability.
This katana is a perfect choice for dojo and Iaido practice, as well as for display, gifts, and serious sword collectors. It reflects both the strength of traditional Japanese swordmaking and the refined beauty of handcrafted detail.
