This katana is a work of art, boasting a blade made of folded steel with a polished mirror-like surface. The blade is a result of ancient sword-making methods, fully hand-forged and hand-polished to perfection. It has been folded an astonishing 13 times, creating an astounding 8192 layers. During the forging process, a special clay is meticulously applied to the blade by hand, creating a thin covering near the edge and a thicker layer over the rest of the blade. This technique results in differential cooling during quenching, producing a hard edge and a softer back. The exquisite real hamon (temper line) on the blade is a testament to this differential cooling process.
The katana features a full tang construction and a chu-kissaki (medium point). It comes with an intricately designed dragon Koshirae. The high-quality brass Tsuba (guard) is complemented by a one-piece brass habaki (blade collar), and two seppas (spacers) securely fasten the tsuba. The Fuchi (sleeve) and Kashira (buttcap) are also crafted from brass, adding to the overall aesthetic. The tsuka-ito (handle wrap) is made of brown synthetic cord, tightly wrapped over black real ray skin samegawa. Two dragon design menuki adorn the handle. The tang is double-pinned with bamboo mekugi pegs.
